Former Vice President Dick Cheney defends his daughter Rep. Liz Cheney and warns against former President Donald Trump.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney attacked ex-President Donald Trump as a direct threat to the nation's future in a campaign commercial for daughter and struggling Republican legislator Liz Cheney on Thursday.

Cheney, who is running for reelection against Trump-backed candidate Harriet Hageman, portrayed the ex-president in similar terms during her time on the special congressional committee probing the Jan. 6, 2021 insurgency.

Dick Cheney Calls Trump a "Coward"

During a series of hearings, Cheney and other committee members accused Trump of coordinating the Jan. 6 attack on the US Capitol in an attempt to fraudulently reverse his election defeat to President Joe Biden. The older Cheney stated in the commercial that Trump knows he lost the election and that he lied to supporters about phony accusations of voting fraud. He referred to Donald Trump as a coward and stated that a true guy would not lie to his fans.

There has never been a greater threat to our Republic than Donald Trump in our nation's 246-year existence, the former vice president declared in an unusual assault on a former president from the same party. The former vice president also stated that his daughter's participation on the inquiry is part of an effort to prevent Trump from regaining the office in 2024, according to USA Today.

As he featured in the newest video published for his daughter's re-election campaign, former Vice President Dick Cheney brands former President Donald Trump as a coward and argues that Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming is fearless. Liz Cheney was the most senior of the ten House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump on a charge of instigating a fatal January 6, 2021, the takeover of the United States. Capitol. Right-wing radicals and other Trump supporters launched the attack to prevent legislative certification of Biden's Electoral College victory in the 2020 election.

Liz Cheney, a conservative politician, and military hawk, was instantly attacked verbally by Trump and his followers, and she was dismissed from her number-three House GOP leadership post in May of last year.

Rep. Liz Cheney Emphasizes Importance of Democratic Process

She has been outspoken about the need of safeguarding the nation's democratic process and putting the country before the party, and she is one of just two Republicans on a special select committee convened by House Democrats to investigate the Capitol incident. This summer, the committee made headlines and garnered a lot of national attention by holding broadcast hearings.

Trump backed Harriet Hageman when she entered the campaign last summer, ratcheting up his attempts to remove Cheney from Congress. And the former president and his backers were successful in convincing some, but not all, of the other anti-Cheney candidates to withdraw from the primary and unite behind Hageman.

Cheney was given a reprieve in March when the Wyoming legislature opted not to eliminate same-day party registration in primaries, which would have barred Democrats from crossing party lines and registering as Republicans to vote for her in the state's primary. The Wyoming legislature's decision was viewed as a loss for Trump and his backers, who had campaigned to prohibit same-day party registration.

Trump's constant assaults on Cheney have also contributed to her record fundraising in the last year. Despite Cheney's massive money advantage against Hageman, the most recent primary polls indicated Hageman had a substantial double-digit lead over the troubled incumbent.

Cheney stated on two recent Sunday talk shows that her leadership role on the House Jan. 6 select committee takes precedence over her efforts to gain re-election to a fourth term representing Wyoming in the House, as per Fox News.

On January 6, when Cheney accepted a post on the House subcommittee investigating the Capitol attack, the attacks intensified. In a series of public hearings, she has operated like a federal prosecutor, setting out a case tying Trump in what the committee has labeled a sophisticated seven-point conspiracy to overturn the election, ABC News via MSN reported.
