When was the last time you actually watched those safety videos screened on the plane before lifting off? You pretty much know the drill - seatbelt here, flotation device there. Secure your own safety belt before tending to others around you.
It seems Delta Airlines is looking to change that tired, stilted safety video approach by featuring an 80s-themed, in-flight safety video.
In the 5-minute short, a flight attended surrounded by teased hair, metal rockers, sweatbands, and people who genuinely have no idea what WiFi is, reads the script heard by travelers around the world.
According to Forbes, the company wants to make fliers pay attention to the important and potentially life-saving instructions given ahead of the flight.
Witty humor, celebrity cameos, (we're talking ALF, here), lock in viewers from the start. Meanwhile, Delta manages to get its security and safety messages across. Everybody wins.
