A Democratic state representative from Detroit is thankful for the drug 'hydroxychloroquine' not chloroquine, which President Trump endorsed. Chloroquine has not been as effective in treating patients too.

Though the endorsement of President Trump has been misconstrued because he was misinformed about chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine took a back seat. But, luckily for the Democratic representative, she was given hydroxychloroquine in a medical-grade version, not self-medication that can make it worse.

According to State Rep. Karen Whitsett from Detroit, she was confirmed positive with the coronavirus, and she thanked Republican President Donald Trump for his endorsement of the drug which saved her life from the coronavirus.

She said that on Monday she had a positive result from testing for COVID-19. She then took hydroxychloroquine on March 31 that was given by her physician. Whitsett and her husband had symptoms on March 18 that prompted them to ask for doctor's prescription of hydroxychloroquine. By coincidence, Trump's announcement made a difference for her getting better.

The effects of Hydroxychloroquine treatment

It is common knowledge that COVID-19 comes with nasty effects that kill those with health problems, but it makes no difference, once you've got it.

Representative Whitsett said that it was less than two hours before she started to feel relief. She experienced shortness of breath, swollen lymph nodes, and what felt like a sinus infection. She is also experiencing headaches.

Throughout the treatment with hydroxychloroquine (a milder version of chloroquine), the drug proved to be effective which helped her get better.

Whitsett, who had Lyme disease, was not a stranger to the drug hydroxychloroquine since it is a cure for such condition. The big gamechanger is Trump foisting it as one of the possible cures for COVID-19.

However, Trump endorses it for study, not for a coronavirus cure.

President Trump during one of his frequent briefings endorsed the drug hydroxychloroquine and the antibiotic azithromycin, many health professionals did not agree because it was just based on Chinese and anecdotal reports.

After misconstruing his statement, a mad rush of stockpiling follow, placing those who need the drug in danger despite errors in self-medication.

Whitsett said to make her thoughts clear, "It has a lot to do with the president ... bringing it up." She added that he had the power to prioritize the decision to be made.

President Trump saved her life

When asked if Trump's endorsement saved her life, she said, "Yes, I do, I do thank him for that."

The medicine hydroxychloroquine cures malaria, and to treat Lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, among other health problems it can treat.

She added that it is taken with a combo of anti-biotic as prescribed by her doctor.

Trump tweeted about the experience of Whitsett about the Free Press Story and congratulated her.

Whitsett's husband works in the Detroit Metropolitan Airport where might have been exposed. Results of his COVID-19 test has yet to be seen.
