Apple, the tech giant which has one of the best smart watches in the world, is going down with high competitions from other companies who are coming with new innovative smart watches and fitness trackers or bands.

The detailed report from IDC worldwide device wearable trackers showed the market sales, growth and shipments of the wearable manufacturing companies ruling the world market.

According to 9 to 5 Mac, IDC reported that the shipments of wearable devices increased by 26.1 percent, about 22.5 million in the second quarter. IDC described there are demands in the wearable devices with improved communication, functionality, mobile payment support and productivity opportunities. 

IDC has broken down the wearable device market in to 'Basic' and 'Smart' wearable devices.

Shipments of the former type wearables like the fitness trackers raised by 48.8 percent year-over-year in the second quarter and the consumers got attracted to their cheaper prices with more functionalities. The latter type wearables like the smart watches whose overall shipments are reported by a drop of 27.2 percent in the second quarter.

Apple shipped 1.6 million watch units last year quarter, and 3.6 million in a years earlier period-which shows a decline of 56.7 percent shipments. Apple, one of the world's biggest manufacturers of smart watches, fell down to third spot with Fitbit and Xiaomi taking the first and second spot respectively. Fitbit has a share of 25.4 percent in the market whose shipments rose to 5.7 million attaining a growth of 28.7 percent. Xiaomi places itself above Apple with 3.1 million shipments with a market share of 14 percent and has attained a growth of 2.5 percent.

According to Fortune, Ramon Llamas, IDC's research manager of wearables said "Smart wearables, meanwhile, are still struggling to find their place in the market" and "There is plenty of curiosity about what smart wearables - particularly smartwatches - can do, but they have yet to convince users that they are a must-have item."
