Warning: The following contains possible spoilers for "Star Wars: Episode VIII."

Ever since "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" arrived in theaters back in December, fans have been eagerly pouring over ever frame of the film to try and cultivate detailed theories that would explain the movie's biggest mysteries. The biggest unanswered question that "The Force Awakens" left us with was the true parentage of Daisy Ridley's Rey. Well, today comes a new theory that attempts to offer a solution.

This is just a theory and has not been confirmed by Disney, Lucasfilm or anyone in the know, but it is interesting to think about.

Ready? Okay, good.

The theory posits that Rey is actually the younger sister of Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron. The theory roots itself in "Shattered Empire," a "Star Wars" comic book series that takes place after "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi." The comic revolves around Han, Leia and Luke and explores what happens to the Empire following the deaths of Darth Vader and the Emperor.

The comic introduces an exceptionally skilled female pilot who is married to another Rebel fighter. The couple have a son together before the pilot goes off with Luke on an adventure to gather Force sensitive artifacts, one of which she brings home with her. Later, her son is revealed to be Poe Dameron.

The theory suggests that this Force object was present during Rey's conception and helps to explain her incredible ability. It also helps to explain why Poe is such a talented pilot in his own right. With "Shattered Empire" considered canon, this link remains a possibility in "Star Wars: Episode VIII."

But, again, this is just a fun theory at the moment that did not come from anyone involved with the film. Still, it does make some sense and would surprise fans, most of whom believe that Rey is related to Luke Skywalker or Obi-Wan Kenobi. Hopefully we'll find out the true answer when "Star Wars: Episode VIII" arrives in theaters on Dec. 15, 2017.
