'Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag' DLC 'Freedom Cry' Gets Official Release Date; Players Will Take On Role Of Shipmate Adewale

"Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag" newest DLC "Freedom Cry" has an official release date.

The single-player DLC will launch on Dec. 17, and gamers will be able to take on the role of Adewale, Edward Kenway's shipmate turned Assassin. Fans of the series can look forward to 4 additional hours of gameplay, according to Videogamer.com.

The DLC will be available for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. However, it is unclear if the same content will be available for the Wii U or PC.

In other AC news, If you've completed "Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag", and took the time to hack the Abstergo computers, you'll were made aware of the possible locations for the nezt AC game.

An email chain found during your hacking endeavors revealed Abstergo was thinking of setting the game in Egypt, the Middle Ages, and Feudal Era Japan to name a few. This led to questions of the possibility of an all "Modern Day" title in the "Assassin's Creed" series.

Lead writer Darby McDevitt took to Reddit early in November to answer fan questions and shed some light on the future of the series. Unfortunately, McDevitt quickly shut down the idea of taking the story line into the present.

"I doubt we would do a modern day AC," wrote McDevitt. "There are just too many mechanics we would have to develop to make it [believable] ... vehicles, plausible modern cities, a huge array of ranged weapons, etc."

However, lead game designer Jean-Sebastien Decant told GameReactor.com there is a possibility AC's storyline mat be intertwined with another Ubisoft game.

"Absolutely, Watch Dogs is kind of showing us the path for the future," Decant said. "But we have to create a... We have to respect our brands. So if we have to go that way with Assassin's Creed we have to think about how it could fit into Assassin's Creed."
