***SPOILER ALERT*** The remainder of this article will contain spoilers from Sunday's episode of 'Family Guy.'
As many may have heard on Sunday night's new episode of 'Family Guy' the show's creators made the choice to kill off one of the main characters that has been with the family for it's entire 11 season run. Brian Griffin was struck by a car while trying to play in the street with Stewie, resulting in the character's death.
Since it happened, fans of the show have exploded with outrage and concern. Some fans of the show event started a petition to bring the character back to life that can currently boast more than 35,000 signatures. According to comedy blog Splitsider, many have even argued that the death was just a publicity stunt to either sell more Brian-themed merchandise for the holiday season or to boost the show's flagging ratings.
Now just two days after the character's supposed death, an animated clock countdown has appeared online promising a "special announcement" from Brian Griffin on Friday Dec. 6 at 1:00 p.m. ET (10 a.m. PT). There are no clues as to what the announcement will be other than a message to spread the word about the announcement.
A Fox representative has told TVLine that "the producers have confirmed that the 'special announcement from Brian' website is a hoax and was not created by anyone connected to the show, studio or network."
Despite clear evidence that the show is claiming not to be behind the countdown clock, it hasn't stopped many from speculating that Fox is just putting up smoke and mirrors and has plans to bring the sophisticated dog back to life.
As TVLine suggests, there is a Christmas episode coming up on Dec. 15 called "Christmas Guy" where Stewie hatches a plan to get "The one and only thing he wants for Christmas." Perhaps with all of his futuristic gizmos and gadgets he'll find a way to bring back his best friend and sidekick.
