Golden State (8-4) will be without Stephen Curry on Friday when the visit the Staples Center. Curry will miss his second straight game because of a "mild concussion," according to ESPN.
The absence of Curry, who's averaging 19.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, showed in the Warriors' 88-81 overtime loss on Wednesday to the Memphis Grizzlies.
"Obviously he's a big-time player and not having him hurts us," Warriors coach Mark Jackson said, via ESPN. "Next guy stands up and we are a no-excuse basketball team and I thought my guys gave a great effort. They defended, battled and we fell short."
Andre Iguodala filled in for Curry as the team facilitator against Memphis and dished out 14 assists. Golden State will look for production from guard Klay Thompson, who's averaging 20.6 points per game.
Los Angeles, meanwhile, continues to battle without All-Star Kobe Bryant and veteran Steve Nash. The Lakers (5-7) ended a two-game losing skid on Sunday with a 114-99 win over the Detroit Pistons, a game in which forward Jordan Hill had career highs of 24 points and 17 rebounds.
Hill has played at an All-Star level in the four games he's started with an average of 18.8 points and 12.0 rebounds per game.
"I get more confidence every time I step on the floor," said Hill. "We don't have Steve Nash. We don't have Kobe. We've got guys that we know have to step up. We're banding together as a team."
Steve Blake has also stepped up this season for the Lakers, recording 16 assists against Detroit and pushing his season averages to 9.8 points and 7.3 assists per game.
