Despite the NFL having a game in London last year, football has still not connected with British people. One of those Brits is the host of HBO's "Last Week Tonight," John Oliver. The comedian stopped by "Late Night with Seth Meyers" Tuesday night and talked about the biggest event in American sports- the Super Bowl. Oliver told Meyers that while he did watch the game, he was not a fan of Coldplay during the halftime show.

"That was a bad football game, and yet it doesn't matter, does it, because Beyoncé saved the day," Oliver said.

While Oliver admitted to liking Beyoncé's presence at the halftime performance, he had a big problem with the headliners.

"As a British person, I found the appearance of Coldplay slightly excruciating. You think, 'oh gentlemen no, you are not what is required here,'" Oliver said. "Oh no, they're bringing out flowers. That is the opposite of the intent of this sport. These men like to smash into each other until they can remember nothing in their 60s. Your flowers and messages of love are not appropriate, Mr. Martin! I've never seen a Super Bowl halftime band leave the stage and just invite other bands to take over. It was spectacular."

Checks out Oliver describe Coldplay's performance as "very much sex with the lights on" below:
