A Florida judge set George Zimmerman's bond at $9,000 on Tuesday during the former neighborhood watch member's first court appearance in a domestic violence case concerning his girlfriend Samantha Scheibe.
Judge Frederic Schott told Zimmerman not to go near Scheibe's residence in Apopka, Fla., wear a monitoring device at all times, and keep from making contact with her, the Wall Street Journal reported. Judge Schott also said that Zimmerman was not allowed to hold guns, ammunition, or go outside of Florida's state lines.
According to the Journal, Judge Schott informed Zimmerman that he was not weighing the Sanford resident's past legal issues in his decision. Zimmerman was acquitted earlier this year of all charges in the murder of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin. He also allegedly stole furniture from his estranged wife's mother and strangled his current girlfriend, Scheibe.
Zimmerman is currently being charged with aggravated assault, and could receive up to five years in prison if he's found guilty. He has additionally received two misdemeanor charges for battery and criminal mischief.
The defense said they believe Zimmerman will be released on Wednesday, adding to the Wall Street Journal that he will most likely be acquitted from this case.
Zimmerman and his girlfriend on Monday both called 911 separately after a fight escalated, ultimately leading Zimmerman to allegedly pull a long-barreled shotgun on Scheibe.
According to the police report, Zimmerman allegedly broke a table with the shotgun, then pointed it in her direction "for a minute."
