Gamers all throughout the U.S. and Canada were able to start purchasing Sony's highly anticipated next-generation console, the PlayStation 4 on November 15. It's been less than 24 hours since the launch of the console and the first battle in the next-gen console wars has already officially begun. However, thanks to a humble tweet from Sony's biggest rival, it looks like the console wars will be fought with a bit of civility.

It's no secret that Microsoft's Xbox One, due out in a few days on Nov. 22, is in direct competition with Sony's PlayStation 4. However a tweet sent out earlier on Friday from the official Xbox account to Sony's official PlayStation account reminds us all that, at the end of the day, we're still gamers.

An image with the Xbox logo reads "Congratulations on your launch, Sony." As IGN puts it: "Though brief, the sentiment is clear: regardless of your console preference, it's a great time to be a gamer."

Sony's PlayStation 4 arrived in North America last night with the launch of the PlayStation 4. The next-generation console will go on sale in Europe on November 29. Meanwhile the Xbox One will have its global release on November 22.

The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are in a bit of a dead heat right now, although that may be a matter of opinion depending on who you're talking to. Both consoles boast an impressive list of games at launch and each has functionality and features. The PlayStation 4 has the completely redesigned DualShock 4 controller complete with a lightbar, trackpad, improved thumb sticks with an indent to better fit the human thumb. On the other side of the coin is Microsoft's Xbox One. While it costs an additional $100, that price factors in the impressive Kinect motion sensor camera, a feature that many next-gen games are already developing game features for.
