The Thunder made a surprise addition in their squad for Saturday night's encounter against the Sydney Sixers. Kiwi batsman Henry Nicholls will be playing in the place of South African great Jacques Kallis.

"It's all happened very quickly. It was awesome to play in the series against Sri Lanka, especially to play as much as I did -scoring 49 runs from four ODI innings at an average of 24.5," Nicholls said, according to Stuff NZ.

"The Big Bash is very popular back home and it's very exciting to now be involved in a very big game for a team who have a chance to qualify for the finals," he added.

The Mike Hussey-led Thunder can still seal a play-off berth. On the other hand, the Sixers will try to deny the Thunder a play-off chance.

"It took the Thunder four years to beat us once. But it' still 7-1. They will miss guys like Usman Khawaja and Jacques Kallis, they won their first three matches and were talked up as hot property. Now they have hit a hurdle," Sixer pacer Mitchel Starc said, according to Fox Sports.
