Australia registered a comfortable five-wicket victory in the opening ODI played at Western Australia Cricket Association (WACA) Ground in Perth on Tuesday.

Batting first, India made a massive total of 309 with the help of Rohit Sharma's brilliant 171 knock, according to NDTV Sports. Sharma along with skipper Virat Kohli (91) put a magnificent 200-run partnership.

Skipper Steve Smith (149) and George Bailey (112) guided Australia to chase down the target with five wickets in hands.

Australia is hosting India for five ODIs and three T20Is. Both sides are keen to use both series for the International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 world cup scheduled in March and April, according to the Hindu.
