According to a news report by Wall Street Journal, the release of HTC's latest smartphone HTC One has been delayed due to shortage of components.
In an attempt to compete with the Samsung's S4 and Apple's iPhone5, Taiwan company HTC suffered a major setback, which could prove harmful in the long run. The company announced a delay in the shipment of its latest smartphone HTC One due to shortage of components.
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, retail distributors and telecom operators, including Vodafone and Best Buy, have reported that HTC has already informed them about the delay. The article states that company officials have revealed component shortages including that of camera parts and metal casings.
An unnamed HTC official also reportedly told the Journal that the company was having problems managing its suppliers as it "changed its order forecasts drastically and frequently following last year's unexpected slump in shipments."
The report also claimed that HTC CEO Peter Chou promised to step down from the company if the new smartphone doesn't do well. The delayed shipment could be a big blow for the company as it is already witnessed a 41 percent drop in sales and profits went down 91 percent in the last quarter.
The company announced the launch of HTC One in February. The new smartphone has a 4.7-inch full-HD display with 468 pixels per inch packed in an aluminium unibody and is powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor. It has 2GB of RAM and comes in models supporting 32GB and 64GB memory storage space. However, it doesn't have an expandable memory card slot. Other features include:
-Wi-Fi 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n
-Bluetooth 4.0,
-GPS
-NFC
-Infrared
-Micro-USB
It runs completely overhauled Sense UI atop Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and is available in three colors - Grey, Black and Red.
