Only two days after Charlie Hunnam confirmed that he will not be playing the role of Christian Grey in the movie version of "Fifty Shades of Grey", rumors have it that Dakota Johnson is also thinking of dropping out because she can't handle the pressure the role brings with it.
For months, fans drooled for more news about who would bag the lead roles in the movie adaptation of E.L. James' kinky novel "Fifty Shades of Grey." Judging from Internet polls and comments posted all over the web, Matt Bomer and Ian Somerhalder remained fans' two favorites to play the male protagonist in the film while Alexis Bledel and Michelle Trachtenberg were the hot favorites for the role of Anastasia Steele.
Much to everyone's disappointment, James announced earlier in September that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson had bagged the lead roles in the film. Fans voiced their anger and disappointed through Twitter and even started a petition demanding a re-cast and forcing both stars to reconsider their decision to be part of the film.
Over the weekend, Hunnam confirmed that he was dropping out of the film. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the actor "was overwhelmed with the attention he received from the movie and got cold feet about carrying such a high-profile project."
Now rumor has it that Johnson is also planning to call it quits and back out of the film.
"Dakota is having a very hard time dealing with all the press," a source close to the actress told E! News. "When she first got the role, it was way too much for her. It's been tough [for Dakota]."
However, studio executives have said that Johnson is not going anywhere and that the re-casting for Christian Grey will, in fact, be based on who shares the best chemistry with her.
"Dakota earned the role and she shouldn't be worried right now. The only time she will have to worry, if at all, is if they hire someone that has no chemistry with her," a source told HollywoodLife. "But they are casting the actor with her in mind."
No sooner had news of Hunnam departing from the movie begun circulating; fans geared up and started voting for who they wanted to replace Hunnam. The votes for this week are in and handsome "Vampire Diaries" Somerhalder tops the list of sexy hunks people want to see play Christian Grey.
We only hope the casting unit of the film are all ears and take into consideration the fans' choice. Who do you think should replace Hunnam? Let us know!!
