There's been considerable speculation regarding Warner Bros.' plans for Superman moving forward. Although the last son of Krypton will be at the center of "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" and, most likely, the two-part "Justice League" series, it's unknown if Henry Cavill will get the opportunity to headline another solo film ("Man of Steel 2"). Conflicting reports about WB's plans have arisen in recent weeks, with some saying the movie is happening and other saying it's on the shelf at the moment.

However, Heroic Hollywood has an unconfirmed report of an alleged pitch from Zack Snyder and David Goyer to WB about a potential sequel. In it, HH Editor-in-Chief Umberto Gonzalez claims to know three characters that are set to appear in the follow up. Remember, this is all unconfirmed at the moment, so treat it as a rumor.

"Yesterday I reported that the Man of Steel sequel isn't on permanent hold, George Miller MAY still take a crack at it, the film will happen in the next few years, and Braniac will most likely be the villain," Gonzalez wrote.

Brainiac is an alien supercomputer who has become one of Superman's greatest enemies. However, the super villain may not be after Clark Kent, according to Gonzalez.

"I found out what Brainiac is after...Kara Zor-El. Yes folks, Supergirl!

"In the prequel comic before the release of Man of Steel, David Goyer scripted that Kara Zor-El was the most promising daughter of the House of El...The idea has always been the sequel will introduce Supergirl and will focus on her as much as on Superman himself."

While Goyer's comic did plant the seed for Supergirl, CBS is about to debut a new series focused on Superman's famous cousin. Although WB has confirmed that their TV and film universes are separate (as evidenced by the fact that there will be two Flashes), it's also not good business to have so many overlapping and repetitive properties at once.

But Brainiac and Kara aren't the only new characters the sequel would introduce.

"Brainiac wants the codex from Kara and get this, from the bits of Kryptonian knowledge Brainiac does have creates Bizarro!

"Yes, Brainiac creates Bizarro and sends the creature after Kara to retrieve the codex for him."

While comic book fans will surely be excited to hear all of this, movie fans may not share their optimism. "Man of Steel" was a flawed movie from a story and character standpoint. Introducing three new big names may rob Superman of the necessary screen time to further develop his character. Just because a film is star-studded doesn't mean it's going to be good.

As of now, this is still just a rumor. But what do you think of the reported plan? Let us know in the comments section below.
