Police in New Jersey have arrested the man found with Rosie O'Donnell's daughter Chelsea earlier this week. The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office has charged the 25-year-old Steven M. Sheerer with endangering the welfare of a child and distribution of obscenity, according to Patch.

The 17-year-old Chelsea met Sheerer through the dating app Tinder. She was found on Aug. 18 in the attic at a home in Barnegat, N.J. with Sheerer and her therapy dog Bear. If convicted of both charges, Sheerer could face up to five years in state prison.

Rosie revealed her daughter was missing on Aug. 18 and she hadn't been seen since Aug. 11. She also reported that Chelsea had stopped taking the medication for her unidentified mental illness.

Detectives from the local Barnegat police and High Tech Crime Unit found evidence of inappropriate communications over the last several weeks on Chelsea's phone between her and Sheerer.

Ocean County Superior Court Judge Phillip M. Miller set Sheerer's bail at $40,000. The judge also ordered him not to have any contact with the victim or her family.

Chelsea is one of three children from Rosie's first marriage to Kelli Carpenter. The talk show host has five children total.
