Shannen Doherty, the 44-year-old Beverly Hills, 90210 actress confirmed earlier media reports that stated she is battling breast cancer, reported USA Today. To make matters worse, Doherty claims that she would have found out about the cancer sooner if her ex-manager had paid her health insurance premium in 2014.

Doherty filed a lawsuit against on Wednesday against the Los Angeles accounting firm Tanner Mainstain Glynn & Johnson and its former partner, Steven D. Blatt, for mismanagement.

Doherty claims that she was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in March and her doctor's told her that earlier treatment could have prevented its spread.

The lawsuit alleges that Blatt's lack of action in paying her premiums led to the cancellation of her insurance policy, making her unable to receive medical care, reported Entertainment Weekly.

Tanner Mainstain's reps responded publicly to the lawsuit, stating that although they are saddened to hear about Doherty's cancer, it does not stem from any sort of mismanagement on their part, reported People.

"The claim that Tanner Mainstain caused her to be uninsured, prevented her from seeking medical care, or somehow contributed to her cancer is patently false," they said. "Tanner Mainstain will aggressively defend all of Ms. Doherty's claims in court."

Despite her legal and health troubles, Doherty remains positive in the face of her disease.

"I am continuing to eat right, exercise and stay very positive about my life," she said. "I am thankful to my family, friends and doctors for their support and, of course, my fans who have stood by me."
