Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has finally admitted to smoking a copious amount of a certain drug; surprisingly he wasn't talking about the crack cocaine he allegedly was caught smoking on camera but instead talking about marijuana, according to the BBC.
Canadian politicians smoking marijuana has been a hot topic lately as the leader of the Liberal Party, Justin Trudeau, called for the drug's legalization in June and the Premier of Ontario, Kathleen Wynne, admitted to smoking some pot before becoming a politician last week, according to the BBC.
"Oh yeah, I won't deny that," Ford said when asked if he had smoked marijuana by reporters. "I've smoked a lot of it."
In March a video allegedly depicting Ford smoking crack cocaine and using homophobic slurs while discussing his political rivals was reportedly shown to members of the media by men trying to sell it for close to $1 million. One of the journalists shown the video, John Cook of Gawker, attempted to start a crowd-sourcing campaign to purchase the video but was unable to do so since the video apparently has disappeared.
Ford's brother, Doug, thinks that his brother is far from the only politician in Canada to have smoked a bit of marijuana in their day, according to the Toronto Sun.
"I emphasize not everyone but the vast majority of people your age and my age, the baby boomers per se, have tried smoking pot once in their life," Doug Ford said. "There is a lot of politicians in this country... the vast majority have tried smoking pot, I can assure you that."
Ford was also recently videotaped at a Toronto street festival staggering around drunkenly repeating, "I'm not driving." The video was posted online by Mala Turay, a citizen of the Toronto, who believes that the mayor should be behaving in differently in order to set a good example for the city, according to the Toronto Daily Mail.
