Actress Demi Moore has release a statement following the news that a 21-year-old man was found dead in her pool in Los Angeles.

"I am in absolute shock. I was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got the devastating news," said Moore in a statement given to Entertainment Weekly.

She adds: "The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy and my heart goes out to this young man's family and friends. I ask that you please respect the privacy of all concerned during this sensitive time."

Los Angeles Police were called in after a 911 call from the west Los Angeles home on Sunday at around 5:15 a.m. and the man was pronounced dead 15 minutes later, said Lt. Fred Corral of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, according to the Associated Press.

The man did not know how to swim and that it appeared that he slipped and fell into the pool. There was no report of foul play. It is also reported that Moore's caretaker was the one who threw a party at her home and invited the victim.

The caretaker and the other partygoers left the house at some point leaving the man behind and then found the man at the bottom of the pool once they returned, sources tell TMZ.
