Gearbox, the company behind the popular shoot and loot title "Borderlands 2" had announced that the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2 will be released next week on September 3.
According to Digital Trends, the new Downloadable Content (DLC) will include a new level cap of 72 and the Digistruct Peak set to various "Overpower levels. These new Oberpower levels will be a way for players to master certain fights in a new, medium-sized area. These fights will remain static and unchanging causing players to be able to, over time, figure out the best way to win them. Once they are comfortable, they can choose to set the overpower level higher meaning while in the area they can go past the level cap of 72 all the way to 80 but only while in that area. In addition, once the Overpower level is set before entering the fights, they'll change drastically depending on how high the level is set. In other words, just when you think you've mastered an area, the game will randomly make it harder on you. While this sounds difficult, with high risk comes high reward. As your Overpower levels go up, so too does your loot.
In addition to the Digistruct Peak Challenge coming out next week, players can look forward to three "Headhunter" DLC packs coming before the end of 2013, the first being "TK Baha's Bloody Harvest," a Halloween-themed mini mission that will end in a new four-player oriented boss fight against the Pumpkin Kingpin. Players can look forward to reuniting with a zombified TK Baha sometime in October.
The idea behind these new DLC packs is to give players the ability to come back to these missions often and still have it be a different experience every time. Right now in order to max out one's character to the max level, it requires a lot of replay of older missions. Once a character is maxed out, these new DLC packs will give them a chance to turn on Borderlands and still have something to do no matter how high up their level is.
