Bristol Palin announced in a blog post on Thursday that she is pregnant with her second child.

"I wanted you guys to be the first to know that I am pregnant," Palin wrote.

The daughter of Sarah Palin felt forced to make the announcement sooner than she expected because of the "constant trolls" speculating on her life. She didn't reveal the father and only asked for people to respect her and her son Tripp's privacy.

She also wrote about her family's disappointment with her pregnancy and her own struggle to come to terms with becoming a mother again.

"Honestly, I've been trying my hardest to keep my chin up on this one," Bristol wrote. "At the end of the day there's nothing I can't do with God by my side, and I know I am fully capable of handling anything that is put in front of me with dignity and grace."

She added, "I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you."

The 24-year-old had her first child at age 18 with ex-fiancé, Levi Johnston, shortly after her mother ran with John McCain for the White House in 2008. In 2009, she began a spokesperson for teen pregnancy prevention, working with The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy.

Bristol recently broke off her engagement with Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer in May and moved back to Alaska with her son. A week later, she addressed the split in another blog post titled, "The Wedding that Didn't Happen," and called the failed engagement a "painful time" in her life.

It's unclear whether the broken engagement and her pregnancy are connected.
