Michelle Obama is releasing a hip-hop album focused on healthy eating and exercising. The 19-track album is in conjunction with her campaign to fight childhood obesity, "Let's Move."
According to the Daily News, the songs will encourage children to eat healthy meals and work out on a regular basis. The First Lady is teaming up with musicians like Jordin Sparks Ashanti, DMC, Ariana Grande, Travis Barker, Doug E. Fresh, Ryan Beatty and Artie Green.
She also teamed up with Partnership for a Healthier America on the project and Dr. Oz, who will provide healthy eating messages for the songs.
"The simple act of getting up and dancing is really a great way to be active," Drew Nannia, Chief Marketing Officer for Partnership Healthier America told NBC. "We are bringing together music and physical activity in a way we felt more people could identify with."
Mrs. Obama won't be rapping or singing on the album, which is called "Songs for a Healthier America" but she will be making guest appearances. In one video released earlier in the week, a public service announcement from her campaign has been edited into the video before Jordin Sparks begins singing about loving your body in "Everybody."
According to the Daily News, there will be a total of 10 music videos to accompany the album and will feature songs titled "U R What You Eat," "Let's Move," "Veggie Luv," "Hip Hop LEAN" and "Get Up, Sit Up." Each music video will be distributed to schools in New York and other large cities.
"Songs for a Healthier America" will also include pop and country songs all designed to encourage kids to eat healthier.
"You gotta work hard, eat right, feeling good starts on the inside/every-body it's your body," Sparks sings in "Everybody."
The album is schedule to be released Sept. 30.
