In typical J.J. Abrams fashion, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has been draped in mystery since its early stages; lots of questions, very few answers. But now comes a bit of clarity on one small aspect of the film: Andy Serkis' role.

Serkis is best known as the motion-capture genius who brought Gollum to life in "The Lord of the Rings" and Caesar in "Rise of the Planet of the Apes." But Serkis has also enjoyed a few live action roles such as in "King Kong" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron." Due to his versatility, "Star Wars" fans didn't know what to expect from his character in Episode VII.

Now we know that Serkis will be playing a character known as Supreme Leader Snoke thanks to an interview with StarWars.com. The interview also featured a picture of Serkis in full motion-capture gear.

We still don't know who or what Snoke is, but we do know what the character sounds like. Serkis confirmed that he was the narrator of the first teaser trailer released last November. The actor also confirmed that the voice was completely organic and was not manipulated digitally.

Based on Snoke's narration, it's fair to guess that his character may be Force sensitive, as he senses an "awakening" in both the Dark side and the Light. According to Serkis, the being has "been through some stuff" during his time in the galaxy and may be a bit weathered.

From a purely speculative standpoint, the title Supreme Leader echoes certain dictatorships and carries with it a negative connotation. Is it possible that Snoke is some type of evil Imperial leader in The First Order?
