On Wednesday, during an extravagant event at Lincoln Center in New York, LG introduced its latest innovation, the G2, offering its own tiny modernism on the form of a smartphone.
During the event, which was also live-streamed, Jong-Seok Park, LG’s president of mobile communications, said that the G2’s new look gives the phone a sleek look. The design seemed to be LG’s main purpose in making G2. For instance, the volume and power buttons are placed on the back of the phone wherein many people put their fingers to rest while talking on the phone.
Another improvement is the battery’s life. The company claims that the battery of G2 will have a longer charge than past LG models and could last a full day with a single charge.
The G2 new features include an almost 5.2-inch edge-to-edge screen, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. LG also claimed that users can use the button on the back of the phone as a shutter button, making it easier to take photos. G2’s camera is also engineered with a stabilization camera feature that allows users to capture clear shots from a moving vehicle.
Software features that save users’ time while working on their phone are also added in G2. “KnockOn” feature, let users power on their phones by double tapping its screen. Another feature is an option to have the phone pick up a call automatically and decreases the ringtone volume when lifted to the ear.
Another interesting feature of G2 is it allows users to create a “guest mode”, which offers the option to secure a restricted section, with its own lock screen pattern. This feature allows access to certain apps only which will be beneficial to parents who don’t want their kids accidentally buying something online, deleting files, or sending e-mails with an unintended tap.
In the next couple of months, G2 will be available in South Korea which will then be followed by the U.S.
