Los Angeles heads into Tuesday with the chance to close out the series against Houston. The Clippers improved to 3-1 in the series following Sunday's 128-95 blowout of the Rockets, thanks to 26 points - and a slightly better outing at the free-throw line - from center DeAndre Jordan. He made playoff history by attempting 28 free throws in the first half, a deliberate strategy by the Rockets given his notoriety for being unable to hit from the charity line.Rockets coach Kevin McHale decided to go with the "Hack-a-Jordan" strategy early in the game after center Dwight Howard got into foul trouble. McHale's decision turned the first half into a slow-moving affair, much to the chagrin of angry Clippers fans.
"I didn't really know how many I was shooting," Jordan, who finished the night having hit 14 of his 34 free throws, told the Associated Press. "I was just trying to make as many as I could for our team, and on the other end just try to get us as many stops as I could in a row."
Clippers star Blake Griffin had 21 points and eight rebounds, star Chris Paul chipped in with 15 points and 12 assists, and guard J.J. Redick added 18 points. Backup guard Austin Rivers, who had a career night in Game 3, finished with 12 points.
For Houston, Game 4 was nothing short of a beat down. The Rockets ended the first half down by only six points, but that deficit quickly grew as Los Angeles went on a 29-7 run in the third quarter. The Rockets' frustration showed in the second half, with center Dwight Howard eventually getting ejected from the game in the fourth quarter after drawing his second technical of the night.
