CBS is no longer the only broadcast network without a superhero show.

"Supergirl," starring Melissa Benoist, has received an early full season order, according to multiple reports. The series from executive producer Greg Berlanti will premiere this fall.

Benoist will play Kara Zor-El a.k.a Supergirl who escaped her home planet of Krypton before its destruction and landed on Earth. The Danvers family took her in as a foster child and taught her to be careful with her extraordinary powers (which she shares with her cousin Superman).

The CBS series will pick up Kara's story at age 24 when she finally decides to embrace her powers after having to suppress them for so long. An unexpected disaster will force her hand and she soon feels "energized by her heroic deed," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The young woman starts using her powers to help the people of her city and, in turn, the citizens call her "Supergirl."

The show also stars Calista Flockhart (Cat Grant), Mehcad Brooks (Jimmy Olson), David Harewood (Hank Henshaw), Chyler Leigh (Alexandra "Alex" Danvers), Malina Weissman (young Kara) and Laura Benanti, who will recur as Supergirl's mother Alura Zor-El.

CBS will likely announce the rest of its pick-ups and renewal tomorrow or Friday. The network will the present its 2015-2016 lineup at its upfront presentation on Wednesday, May 13.
