The St. Louis Rams are interested in adding a quarterback in this year's NFL Draft and it's not who you think it is.

Yes, the Rams have been mentioned repeatedly as candidates to trade up for Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota. That possibility is still on the board. But with the Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles (and possibly the San Diego Chargers) also interested in moving up for Mariota the likelihood of it actually happening is waning.

But quarterback still remains a priority on St. Louis' radar.

"The #Rams, who have worked out a ton of passers, are putting Oregon St QB Sean Mannion thru a workout today, source said." Ian Rapoport of NFL.com tweeted.

The Rams traded for former Eagles quarterback Nick Foles earlier this offseason in the hopes of bringing some much needed stability under center. Although Foles is qualified to be a starting quarterback, he may not be a bona fide franchise guy. His incredibly efficient 2013 season proved to be an outlier and Philly brass reportedly soured on him before he suffered a broken collarbone last year. Although Mannion doesn't project to be the next Andrew Luck, the Rams would be remiss if they didn't continue to scour for young and talented arms to add to the mix.

However, if the Rams do like Mannion they may have to compete with the Dallas Cowboys for the right to draft him. The Cowboys worked Mannion out earlier this week and have been rumored to be interested in adding a QB in the draft for the first time since 2009.

Mannion completed 62.3 percent of his passes last season while throwing for 3,164 yards and 15 touchdowns with eight interceptions. He earned a 5.24 grade (out of 10) from NFL.com and projects to be a fifth or sixth round pick.
