The royal baby has a name!
The royal family confirmed via email, and Twitter too, that their newborn son is named George Alexander Louis.
"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son George Alexander Louis," the tweet read. "The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge."
Kate Middleton and Prince William welcomed the 8-pound, 6-ounce baby boy on Monday, but left the world waiting when it came to the royal moniker.
As the couple left the Lindo Wing at St. Marys Hospital in London Tuesday and stopped to pose for pictures and field questions from the waiting media, Prince William insisted that they were still working on a name for the little one.
"Still working on a name, so we'll have that as soon as we can," he told the eager crowd. "It's the first time we've seen him really, so we're having a proper chance to catch up."
While Prince Charles and Diana took one week to reveal Prince William's name, Will and Kate only took two days.
The royal baby name has been the subject of many high stakes bets, with reports as recently as yesterday saying that over £1 million had been wagered on royal baby bets.
According to a report from Sky News, George was actually the favorite leading up to the announcement with odds of 9/4. James followed in second, but Alexander and Louis, both also in the tot's title, were also strong contenders.
Little Prince George is third in line to the throne behind grandfather Prince Charles and father Prince William.
"It's very emotional," Middleton said yesterday of the birth of her son. "It's such a special time."
