Zayn Malik is flying back home to Britain and has left the One Direction world tour; however, the band will take the stage without him.

"Zayn has been signed off with stress and is flying back to the U.K. to recuperate," the singer's publicist Simon Jones said Thursday.

The "On the Road" tour will still go on as scheduled and the pop boy band will appear in Manila, Philippines, and Jakarta, Indonesia, though it remains unclear if Malik will return come March 28 for the band's performances in South Africa.

There have been rumors circulating that Malik's relationship with fiancée Perrie Edwards of the band Little Mix is on a downward spiral, but the 1D star took to Twitter to clear things up, according to ABC News.

Shortly and sweetly, he tweeted, "I'm 22 years old ... I love a girl named Perrie Edwards."

"There's a lot of jealous f**** in this world," he added, after being seen and photographed with another woman. "I'm sorry for what it looks like x."

None of the individual members of the band have commented on Malik's departure from the tour.

"The band wish him well and will continue with their performances," a rep said.
