The Oakland Raiders may have already added Roy Helu to their backfield, but that won't stop them from pursuing former Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray.

According to a report from Ed Werder of ESPN, the Raiders are still hot on the trail of Murray, last season's NFL leading rusher.

Werder's report comes shortly after Omar Ruiz revealed on NFL Network that, "as long as DeMarco Murray is still available, he is in the mix for the Raiders."

Helu, while a high-quality pass-catching back and overall ascending player, is in no way the answer at the position for Oakland. He performed as part of a rotation in Washington and seems set to do the same for the Raiders - he never finished a season with the Redskins with more than 151 rushing attempts or 49 receptions.

The Raiders reportedly believe they already have an every-down back in Latavius Murray on the roster, but the potential to add a player like DeMarco Murray that has already proven he can carry the load full-time has to be particularly alluring.

With young quarterback Derek Carr desperately in need of weapons and new head coach Jack Del Rio most likely looking to build a strong run game to take some of the pressure off his franchise signal-caller, a backfield of Murray, Murray and Helu could be a major coup - as well as a fantastic law firm.

The Raiders, per Pro Football Talk, made a run at Murray at the outset of the new league year, but talk on that front cooled as the Cowboys sought to bring him back and Murray was linked to other teams like the Eagles.

Now, it seems Murray and the Raiders could be circling back to one another.

The Cowboys meanwhile have stated that they'd like to see Murray return but may have already turned their attention to the draft as a means of replacing him, per Desmond Purcell of NFL Network.

They've been linked to the likes of Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon and could be well-positioned to nab any of the first-round-worthy running backs - the "devaluing" of the position has pushed backs down draft boards in the recent past and could do the same again this year, leaving the Cowboys in prime position to have their pick of the litter in the first-round.
