John Kerry Becomes Emotional As Ailing Wife Moves To Rehab

The U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry became emotional while expressing gratitude for the tremendous support he received for his ailing wife Teresa Heinz Kerry, who has been transferred to a rehabilitation hospital in Boston as her condition is reportedly improving, according to the Associated Press.

"I just want to thank everyone for your extraordinary well wishes in the last days. Teresa is doing better under evaluation, and we hope improving," said John Kerry at an event in the presence of U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew and Vice President Joe Biden.

"I want to thank everyone for the remarkable outpouring of good wishes. It's been really special. We are very, very humbled by the expressions of support, I think she's coming along and I know when she's able to, she'll thank everyone herself," said Kerry as his voice was breaking.

Teresa Heinz Kerry was hospitalized last weekend in Nantucket.

Doctors said that the 74-year-old suffered a seizure at the couple's home in Nantucket while on vacation but doctors have yet to ascertain the cause of the seizure, according to the State Department Spokesman Glen Johnson.

She was rushed to hospital in a critical condition by an ambulance but later she was stabilized by the doctors.

The couple got married in 1995. It was the second marriage for both of them.

She was treated for breast cancer in 2009. "I wasn't scared because I'm very analytical about things like this," Heinz told CNN while speaking about her cancer in 2010.

"I'm kind of, I guess, a little fatalistic," added Heinz.
