Fans of DC's iconic villains don't have to go too far to get their fix for the upcoming "Suicide Squad" film. Director David Ayer has been tweeting up a storm about the film and Jared Leto, who is playing The Joker, has chimed in as well.

So, what are some of the more interesting tidbits?

This tweet certainly caught the attention of comic book fans. Insane, ruthless, cunning, maniacal. All apt descriptions of the Joker. But majestic? That's a new one. Who's to say The Clown Prince of Crime doesn't have a regal side to him, though? A majestic Joker may be just the thing Leto needs to separate his character from Heath Ledger's fantastic performance in "The Dark Knight." What else ya got, internet?

This appears to be Leto's famous ponytail getting the snip as well as a confession from the actor. Leto has always been a vocal supporter of his long hairstyles and facial hair. But based on these tweets, fans should expect a much more clean-shaven Joker. That's probably for the best, as a scraggly beard wouldn't look so good on top of the Joker's porcelain white skin. Leto himself also revealed another physical attribute of his version of the Joker. "I'm trying to gain a lot of weight," Leto said recently. "It means I have to eat every couple hours - and I'm terrible at eating a lot."

Putting all of this together, it appears as if fans are in store for a shaven Joker who's a bit more of a physical presence than in iterations past. Ayer might be taking the Joker in a new direction, but that's probably a good thing. The slowly emerging DC Cinematic Universe could use a fresh take on a well-known character. Leto even seems to be approaching his role with a new kind of flair.

"The opportunity to take on this nearly Shakespearean character - that's what graphic novels and comic books are becoming, right?" he said. "This beautiful disaster of a character - what a big challenge."
