The phone lines are open and Toronto Maple Leafs GM Dave Nonis is looking to wheel and deal ahead of the NHL's trade deadline at 3 p.m.

After moving Cody Franson and Mike Santorelli two weeks ago, Nonis hasn't taken his foot off the trade pedal and is "tremendously active on the trade wire," according to a report from The Fourth Period.

One deal that has gained increased traction recently is a Dion Phaneuf-Detroit Red Wings trade. Ken Campbell of The Hockey News reports that for the Leafs, a deal would likely include a package of Wings defenseman Brendan Smith, forward Stephen Weiss and would require the Wings to assume the final six years on Phaneuf's massive contract.

The talks have reportedly been "extensive" over the last few hours, per Campbell.

UPDATE: Campbell tweeted recently that he is getting indications the Leafs are asking too much and that momentum for a trade may be disintegrating.

Other names on the Leafs roster continue to draw NHL trade interest.

"Maple Leafs forwards Tyler Bozak, Joffrey Lupul, Phil Kessel, Olli Jokinen, David Booth and Nazem Kadri are also being discussed, along with defensemen Jake Gardiner and Roman Polak, and goalie James Reimer," writes TFP.

"Leafs defenseman Korbinian Holzer was also being discussed, but he left Sunday night's game with what's believed to be a concussion and may no longer be available, as a result."

It seems the Leafs brass, given the go-ahead on their "scorched earth" rebuilding plan, have made nearly every player on the roster - besides James van Riemsdyk, Jonathan Bernier and Morgan Rielly - available.
