Lindsay Lohan Says Lesbian Relationship With Samantha Ronson Was Toxic and Heartbreaking

After three years of ending her lesbian relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson, Lindsay Lohan finally opens up to Daily Mail Online about the relationship calling the breakup "heartbreaking."

Lindsay Lohan left her fans both disappointed and depressed when in 2008 she announced she was dating DJ Samantha Ronson. Though they broke up three years ago, Lohan has never spoken much about the relations

However, recently the actress spoke to Daily Mail Online about the affair and the breakup, saying they parted ways not only "heartbreaking" but also has many "toxic" people around them.

"I need to love myself first before I could be with anyone else, and I was going through a lot. Two toxic people cannot be together. End of story. We're friends now. That's how it started so I think that's how it was meant to be," Lohan said.

The actress revealed that though she loved Ronson deeply she had to let her go as she didn't like the way Ronson was attacked daily, making it clear that they were not meant to be.

"I was bold enough to say, 'Yeah, I like a girl'. That put her in a situation where she was being attacked every day. That's not fair. And what am I left with? Heartbreak. That was three years ago. It was my last serious relationship," she added.

In April 2009, in an interview with ABC News, after the two split, Lohan's father Michael Lohan accused Ronson of "using" his "daughter" during the relationship.

"Lindsay doesn't need to keep following Samantha around," Michael Lohan told ABCNews.com. "She needs to sit down with her parents. She needs the support of both of us to help her along. Lindsay's an emotional person. I want her to get on with her life in the right direction and a healthy way."

However, Lohan has always been clear about having no regrets about the relationship.

"[I regret] nothing, because then I wouldn't have been able to cry in scenes at the drop of a hat," she told Us Weekly recently. "I have it tattooed: LIVE WITHOUT REGRETS. I'm not saying I wanted to go to a jail cell, but I've drawn from all of it."
