The Buffalo Bills are eying a trade for St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford, according to a report from Yahoo Sports' Rand Getlin. Equally as worth noting are the two reports that contradict the trade rumor, which came a week after Rams coach Jeff Fisher told reporters Bradford would be his starter in 2015.
Bradford's history of injuries and the $12.9 million he's due this coming season leaves open the possibility St. Louis will at least consider moving him. Seemingly believing Bradford could be had, Buffalo is trying to acquire him, according to Getlin.
"The Buffalo Bills are pursuing a trade for St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford, multiple league sources told Yahoo Sports," Getlin wrote Tuesday. "Buffalo has promising young talent in the receiving corps, led by second-year player Sammy Watkins and third-year player Robert Woods, but a league source indicates Bills head coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Greg Roman aren't sold on EJ Manuel as a viable starter and believe Bradford can maximize the value of their wide receivers and help them win now."
Just as quickly as Getlin's report came out, however, two separate reports followed that refuted it.
"The Buffalo Bills are not pursuing a trade with the St. Louis Rams for quarterback Sam Bradford, according to an NFL source," Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News wrote Tuesday.
The Rams, whom CBS reported last week had given Bradford permission to seek a trade, also supposedly denied Getlin's report. ESPN's Mike Rodak tweeted, "Rams tell me that there is no merit to report that Bills are pursuing trade with QB Sam Bradford."
