No. 3 Virginia only loss of the season came on Saturday against Duke, 69-63. The loss ended the Cavaliers' 19-game winning streak to start the season, and the way they lost - the Blue Devils went on a 19-5 run to end the game - understandably bothered coach Tony Bennett.
"I'm frustrated right now because this game was within our grasp and we couldn't finish it," he said, via ESPN. "You hate to give up a game like this on your home floor, but I told our guys - 'It's what you do from here on out.' I think our guys understand that."
Virginia has the chance to avenge the loss just two days later on Monday, something Cavaliers junior guard Malcolm Brogdon sounded excited about.
"When you lose a game, you want to get right back into it," Brogdon said. "The fact that we are playing a UNC team that is very good this year, one of the highest level teams, that's nothing more than we could want."
No. 12 North Carolina, meanwhile, is 17-5 after their six-game winning streak ended on Saturday against Louisville. The Tar Heels fell to the Cardinals in a 78-68 loss and are hoping to get past the defeat by upsetting Virginia.
"We're trying to win the league," said guard Marcus Paige. "Dropping one game can mean the difference between the top of the league or a three or four spot with a lot of hurdles to climb. For that reason, this is going to stick with me for a while. It's going to be hard not to think about this one. Once we get on the court (Sunday) and start thinking about Virginia, hopefully we get past it."
