Four Men Receive Life Sentences For Operating Child Prostitution Ring in Oxford

Four men were arrested and jailed for life in Oxford, England on Thursday in connection with a sex ring that performed horrific acts on young girls.

Brothers Mohammed Karrar and Bassam Karrar, along with another set of brothers Akhtar Doghar and Anjum Doghar, were sentenced to decades in jail for rape and human trafficking between 2004 and 2012.

The Karrar brothers received a minimum of 20 and 15 years respectively, while the Doghar brothers got a minimum serve time of 17 years.

A fifth man, named Kamar Jamil was found guilty of rape and organizing child prostitution-he also received a lifetime jail sentencing, with a minimum of 12 years behind bars, the BBC reported.

Jurors at the Old Bailey court house in Oxford heard how six girls who ranged in ages between 11 and 15, were given huge amounts of alcohol and drugs before the men forced them to perform heinous sex acts.

Some were beaten up-others, burned.

The men apparently sought out girls they thought could easily be ensnared and influenced, then nurtured them until their gang could gain full control.

The then-barely teenage girls suffered physical and mental abuse, were given to the men's friends, or sold to whoever gave the highest bids.

Judge Peter Rook said that the group of men looked for vulnerable girls in particular, and often "depravity was extreme."

The ring of abuse first began in Oxford, but later, a few victims were shuttled to various other areas of England, sold to other men outside of the ring.

The girls were often tied up, burned, beaten up and urinated on. Most times, the girls would go back to Oxford covered in blood, broken and hurt, carrying sexually-transmitted infections, the BBC reported.

Judge Peter Rook highlighted the six victims who came forward's courage. He said that the men stole their childhood and had dealt a sharp blow to their lives.

"These six girls have shown enormous courage in coming to the Old Bailey to give evidence, knowing they would be accused of lying, knowing they would have to relive their ordeals, knowing they have not been believed in the past."

Two more men received jail time of seven years for two counts of sexual activity with a child, the BBC reported.

In court, jurors heard that there have been a number of missed opportunities to catch this ring of men.
