Caroline Wozniacki, the former No. 1 tennis star says her relationship with pro golfer Rory McIlroy has nothing to do with her performance on the tennis field. Since the two began dating, McIlroy has won two majors while Wozniacki has fallen from No. 1 to No. 9.

Caroline Wozniacki, 22, recently spoke to the Guardian about dating the Irish golfer. She said she is happy with her performance on the field and denies that their relationship has been bad for their games.

"Golf and tennis follow the sun; we go around the world to pretty similar places. It's not easy, but we make it work," Wozniacki told the Guardian. "When you know, you know."

"I just really like having Rory around and it is great that he comes to support me like at Eastbourne," the former champion said. "He has the Irish Open the first week of Wimbledon so hopefully he will be able to follow me the second week."

There has been some criticism that Wozniacki is now more famous for being McIlroy's girlfriend than for her tennis exploits. She responded to such remarks and says that any criticism of her abilities, of her relationship and of any aspect of her life is something she has got used to.

When it comes to the critics who claim her relationship has usurped her game, the sports star has a few remarks, "It is nothing new, really. When I was going to No1, I always heard the critics, the experts who said, 'She'll never break the top 100.' Then when I broke top 100, they said, 'The top 50 is too tough.' Then they said: 'To reach the top 10 is impossible with your game.' I reached the top 10. They said: 'Top five is a different class.' I got to that and all of a sudden they had to eat their hats. I just kept proving them wrong."
