CNN anchor Kate Boulduan was fired by by network boss Jeff Zucker after she went on pregnancy leave  - a move that is upsetting female staffers.

Boulduan went on maternity leave in September, taking a break from anchoring "New Day."

CNN slyly announced that Boulduan's fill-in, Alisyn Camerota, would be permanently replacing her on a day where that news was overshadowed by the Paris terror crisis.

"The manner in which Jeff did it is angering female staffers ... They took [Bolduan] out while she was on maternity leave and buried it on a day when there's serious news," an unidentified insider told Page Six, a New York Post affiliate.

CNN was apparently already considering switching Boulduan off the show due to her lack of chemistry with co-anchors Chris Cuomo and Michaela Pereira, reported gossip site The Wrap

Since Boulduan's maternity leave - when Camerota stepped in - the show's rating has increased by 11 percent in the 25-54 news demographic, according to The Wrap.

Although the switch in co-anchors was apparently coming, it wasn't expected to actually happen until Boulduan returned from maternity leave.

Instead, when Boulduan returns she will be co-hosting "@This Hour" at 11 a.m. with with John Berman.
