Man Sells 'Pot Pigs' That Were Raised On Marijuana

The owner of a Ranch in Seattle has begun selling pigs, which he claims were raised on marijuana and calls them "Pot Pigs."

Marijuana and pork are two very popular food items in the U.S. and William von Scheneidau, owner and founder of BB Ranch in Seattle, has taken up the opportunity of offering customers a combination of both. The ranch owner is now selling pigs, which he claims were raised on marijuana and calls them "Pot Pigs."

"The pig farmer has been feeding them marijuana for the last two and a half months of their life and they've been happy as hell," said William Von Schneidau, owner of the BB Ranch, according to a Washington Times report.

The idea first came to him when through popular votes the use of marijuana became legal in Washington. Scheneidau happened to come across a commercial grower who was looking to get rid of some extra stems, stalks, and leaves. The ranch owner agreed to take them and feed them to his animals. This is not the first time Scheneidau has reportedly experimented with his animals' food. Previously, he also added beer and vodka to their troughs.

The weed feeds are mostly given to pigs but considering the fact that most farms Scheneidau works with are free-range, other animals present in the farms are also fed weed sometimes.

Scheneidau reveals to NBC that even though he keeps experimenting with the animals' food, he makes sure that a group of the same animals remain on a controlled diet. He also says that the pigs that are fed weed are often found lazing around and that could be the reason why they are 20 percent fatter than the other pigs that are given normal feed. This extra fat results in marbled, fattier texture of pork that is eventually processed and made into bacon, prosciutto, sausage, pork chops and pulled pork.

According to the ranch owner, customers have reportedly commented that the meat from weed-fed pigs is "more savory" in "blind bacon tests."
