George Zimmerman Trial Live Stream: Trayvon Martin Murder Case Jury Selection Wraps Up (WATCH)

The George Zimmerman murder trial enters its second week on Monday as jury selection continues at a plodding pace. So far 28 jurors have been selected to enter the send phase of jury selection that will begin whenever 40 acceptable jurors are found, experts are expecting that to happen by Tuesday, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Ever since the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin in February 2012 the case has received an immense amount of public interest, interest that is just now starting to fade. Seminole County police had expected there to be a large amount of protesters at the courthouse for the trial but that has yet to be a problem, possibly because the jury selection phase is dragging on so long.

Only a little more than a dozen protesters showed up in support of the Martin family on Monday. Each subsequent day of the trial that number shrank; only three men showed up wearing "Justice for Trayvon" shirts on Wednesday, staying only long enough for the media to snap a picture or two, according to Reuters.

Despite a lower than expected turnout for demonstrators security around the trial is still very tight. Two dozen uniformed officers patrol the parking lots and other areas around the courthouse as well as maintaining two separate security checkpoints, according to Reuters.

The process of jury selection has not only been a tedious but it has at times been hurtful to the Martin family. Sitting in the courtroom behind the prosecution's desk Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton have listened to many jurors share their, at many times harsh, opinions of their late son, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Juror E-81, jurors identities are being kept anonymous, had particularly cutting things to say about Martin.

"I know his family loved him," Juror E-71 said. "He probably just started going with the wrong crowd. They probably didn't know about it."

Public interest in the case is expected to heat up again once the slow process of jury selection has ended. Ben Crump, the Martin family's attorney, expressed the feeling of many when he said that watching jury selection is as invigorating as "watching paint dry," according to Reuters.
