Oprah is known for her gracious gift-giving, including proving a whole audience keys to brand new cars and or taking a group of 300 on a trip to Australia.
Now she's done it again.
According to E! Online, the former talk show queen has donated $12 million to the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture. The 59-year old has already given $1 million in 2007 and together this becomes the museum's largest donation to date.
"I am so proud of African American history and its contributions to our nation as a whole," Winfrey said in a statement. "I am deeply appreciative of those who paved the path for me and all who follow in their footsteps. By investing in this museum, I want to help ensure that we both honor and preserve our culture and history, so that the stories of who we are will live on for generations to come."
In honor of Winfrey's donation, the 350-seat theater that will be constructed will be named the Oprah Winfrey Theater. Winfrey has been a part of the museum's advisory council since 2004.
Her donation comes right after the former talk show host donated $100,000 to Mikey's run, a charity begun by a 13-year old Michael Stolzenberg who is raising money for Boston Bombing victims. She called up the young boy to tell him the get news.
"It was really random. Michael answered and she said, 'Hi, this is Oprah Winfrey... Then she told him she wanted to make the donation and he gave me the phone," Stolzenberg's brother told Perez Hilton. "At first, I was shocked, but once you talk to her she's just very nice... It was almost like I knew her."
