Showtime announced on Tuesday that it's giving fans more "Homeland" and "The Affair." The network decided to renew "Homeland" for a fifth season with 12 episodes and greenlight "The Affair" for a second season with 10 episodes.

According to Showtime, the current and fourth season of "Homeland" averages six million viewers a week while "The Affair" has nabbed 3.9 million viewers across all platforms.

"In its fourth season, 'Homeland' had brilliantly reinvented itself. It continues to capture the attention of a devoted fan base, and has provided an enviable platform for the successful launch of 'The Affair," said David Nevins, President, Showtime Networks in a press release. "With thought-provoking, timely and addictive storylines, both series have been embraced dissected and much debated week after week. We're excited to see more from these compelling shows in 2015."

Season 4 of "Homeland" - which premiered in October 2014 -  is set in Islamabad and Kabul and takes place about six months after the events in the third season with Carrie Mathinson (Claire Danes) assigned to a CIA station in Kabul.

"As last season drew to a close Carrie, pregnant with the late Brody's (Damian Lewis) baby, got promoted to a new post overseas, while Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) contemplated his future outside of the CIA. Season four will find Carrie assigned to one of the most volatile and dangerous CIA stations in the Middle East where she is back on the front lines in the war on terror," a description of the current season reads.

"The Affair" premiered on Oct. 12 and "explores the psychological effects of an erotically charged betrayal. No marriage is beyond temptation, and there is no refuting the connection set in motion when Noah and Alison meet by chance. What follows is far worse than an intimate portrait, it's a unique and thrilling narrative that unravels the dangerous truth layer by layer."
