Washington returns home after handing the New York Knicks a 98-83 loss Tuesday night, thanks to the 17-point efforts from both Paul Pierce and Garrett Temple.
"I thought we established our defense. We picked up our pressure," Pierce said of the third quarter, when they outscored New York 32-15, according to ESPN. "I think we did a great job of mixing up our coverages on (Carmelo Anthony) at times. I was putting pressure on him. Then when he moved, Otto (Porter) had a chance to guard him. A number of guys that gave him different looks."
The Wizards have now won three straight games after losing their season opener to the Miami Heat. Indiana, meanwhile, is trying to snap a three-game losing skid.
The Pacers' latest loss came Tuesday night in a close 87-81 game against the Milwaukee Bucks. With George Hill sidelined with a knee injury, Indiana's backcourt has struggled to produce. Starting guard C.J. Miles went 0 for 8 from the field and finished the game without a single score.
"My teammates have found me and I'm open, I've just got to knock them down," said Miles. "That's pretty much it. There's no secret, no science."
Pacers center Roy Hibbert is averaging 15.0 points and 8.8 rebounds so far, but he - like the rest of the team - struggled to close out the game in the second half.
"We need to play better, we know that," he said. "We haven't put together a full game yet. It's something we've got to learn from. We have the firepower to get back in the game. I just want to see everybody healthy."
