"Gotham" is adding another villain (kid or adult...who knows?) to its rogues' gallery... because it seems that there aren't enough evildoers populating the new show already.

According to Zap2It.com, Scarecrow will now be running amok in the titular city alongside the likes of Catwoman, the Riddler, the Penguin, Mr. Zsas, and Two-Face who have all been introduced a mere seven episodes into the season. The news was revealed during a panel at "Stan Lee's Comikaze" convention over the weekend.

Danny Cannon, the executive producer of "Gotham," said the writers are fleshing out the story now and that the Scarecrow alias will be passed on to the character by his father because they wanted to create a future enemy for Batman while simultaneously introducing a possible antagonist for Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), as well.

Scarecrow, also known as Dr. Jonathan Crane, was played by Cillian Murphy in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" trilogy most recently.

While "Gotham" started off slow, it has built positive momentum with each episode. The Penguin (Robin Taylor) is far and away the best, and most intriguing, character on the show thus far. To keep introducing new foils is a mistake, in my opinion. Keeping the focus on Penguin and his Machiavellian struggles with Gotham's various crime bosses for the rest of this season would be the best course of action, but the show's producers appear to have other ideas. Hopefully, it will all come together in a satisfying fashion at the culmination of this initial season.
