Convicted serial killer and rapist Richard "The Night Stalker" Ramirez has passed away according to ABC News.
Lt. Sam Robinson, San Quentin State Prison spokesman, released a statement to The Associated Press announcing Ramirez's death, but did not reveal any specifics surrounding his death. ABC News reported the statement said the convict died of "natural causes", but a prison official reportedly told TMZ Ramirez "died from Hepatitis C."
According to TMZ, Ramirez was convicted and sentenced to death in 1989 for sexually assaulting approximately 11 people, murdering 13 and attempting to murder five women in Southern California. His finger prints was left at the scene of the crime and his DNA was found on some of his victims.
ABC News reports Ramirez entered unsecured homes and attacked those in the home, leaving "satanic symbols at murder scenes and some victims were forced to 'swear to Satan' by the killer."
He was attacked and captured by resident in the East Los Angeles area "while attempting a carjacking" after authorities released his image to the public.
Ramirez was convicted after a four-year trial. At his first court appearance, Ramirez continued to express his satanic beliefs and yelled out "Hail Satan" and showed a pentagon drawn on his hand according to ABC News.
The individuals raped and killed by Ramirez were reportedly between the ages of 9 and 83 years-old. He reportedly filled for several appeals which delayed his execution.
