Armed intruders were ran away by a 10-year-old according to CNN.
The Brooklyn boy improvised when two men, one disguised as a FedEx man, entered his home and attempted to rob all nine of the occupants inside the home. It's unclear who was watching the child at the time of the incident or the whereabouts of his parents.
One of the armed intruders reportedly made his way upstairs where the unidentified boy was able to disarm him and scare him away.
"Someone was able to close the door on his arm, making him drop his gun and the boy picked up the gun and fired once," CNN reported.
The gunman and the 10-year-old exchanged gun fire until the gunman and his accomplice fled the scene. The suspects were unsuccessful in their robbery and left the home empty handed.
No one was injured and no arrest were made. A description of the armed men were not released. It's unclear if any progress within the investigation have been made.
Reporters attempted to contact the 10-year-old and his family but there was a note on the door requesting privacy.
"Many of the victims are minors and are all traumatized on what occurred yesterday. We just want to continue with our daily routines," the note read.
This is the first time a young hero has grabbed a few headlines. A 13-year-old boy was sent home from school earlier this week after stopping a bully from stabbing a classmate.
Sir John A. Macdonald Junior High School claims the reason behind reprimanding the child is "it's not recommended that students intervene in incidents such as this to ensure their own safety."
