'Ghostbusters' Reboot: Ernie Hudson Says All-Female Cast Is A 'Bad Idea': 'I Don't Think The Fans Want To See That'

“Ghostbusters” star Ernie Hudson doesn’t like the idea of an all-female sequel to the franchise.

During an interview with Telegraph U.K., the actor who play Winston Zeddemore about twenty years ago explained why he doesn’t see fans of the “Ghostbusters” franchise flocking to see the movie.

"I heard it was going to be a total reboot, and that it would have nothing to do with the other two movies," Hudson said. "If it has nothing to do with the other two movies, and it's all female, then why are you calling it Ghostbusters?

"I love females. I hope that if they go that way at least they'll be funny, and if they're not funny at least hopefully it'll be sexy. I love the idea of including women, I think that's great…But all-female I think would be a bad idea. I don't think the fans want to see that.”

Hudson added he the outcome could turn out “amazing”, but in his opinion leaving out the original male cast members could hurt its chances to succeed.

The female-led “Ghosbusters” film will be directed by Paul Feig and written by Katie Dippold. The film has yet to announce its leading ladies, but the production is rumored to be eyeing Krisen Wiig.

"It's official. I'm making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold [Katie Dippold] & yes, it will star hilarious women. That's who I'm gonna call,” Feig wrote on Twitter.
