A man murdered his transsexual partner and cooked his dismembered body in chemicals in Brisbane before killing himself. 

It's unclear if Marcus Volke and Mayang Prasetyo were married, but according to Facebook the couple became engaged in August 2013.

Police were called to Volke's apartment after neighbors reported a foul smell in the building, reports ABC Australia. 

"It makes you feel sick that that poor girl sat there for however many days and we've been walking past, living our lives and thinking 'hmmm what's that smell,' but you don't put two and two together," Courtney Reichart tells ABC Australia.

She reportedly couldn't believe that smell equaled a murder. Reichart said they appeared to be a normal couple. 

Prasetyo is believed to be a prostitute from Indonesia. Her last place of employment, according to her Facebook profile, is Le Femme Garcon, an Australian cabaret show.
